Hi, I'm Dawn.
I’m passionate about helping people create sustainable lifestyle changes.
I wasn't always healthy and fit. I grew up in a house where meat and potatoes were the norm and with the story that food = love. Which meant that oftentimes, affection was shown with treats of pizza, cookies, or bakery rolls. Food was friendly and comforting, and it was always about the quantity of food rather than the quality. Because of that, I never learned how to eat right and I struggled to feel comfortable in my own skin.

When I came home from my first year at college, having gained more than the ‘Freshman 15’, my mom promptly put me on the Stewardess Diet. Can you imagine how I felt going from meals of pizza and Chinese food to celery sticks with peanut butter? It was my first ‘diet’ and I hated feeling so restricted and that I couldn’t eat what everyone else was eating. I knew that there had to be a better way, but I didn’t know yet what that was.


As a result, I tried every diet out there and it seemed like every time I tried a new program, I’d take two steps forward and one step back - sometimes it was one step forward and two steps back. Whether the results were quick or slow, I was frustrated. I felt like I’d always be a slave to some restrictive program if I wanted to be healthy and fit.

After years of trying all these fad diets and quick fixes, I realized that kind of lifestyle wasn’t sustainable or enjoyable and I had to figure something else out.

That’s when I started reclaiming my life!!!! It was a long and winding road, but I figured out how to adapt my food story, feed my body, and take care of myself in a way that felt truly freeing. No more yo-yo dieting for me! I didn’t have to count calories or kill myself at the gym just so I could have dessert at night. I learned healthy living is a joy, not a punishment. And as an added bonus, I had tons more energy.

Now I see food as delicious, fuel and a source of great fun. I love traveling the world and trying new flavors and cuisines and don’t feel guilty or deny myself those pleasures. I’ve totally shifted how I see exercise, as well. It’s something I look forward to, not something I have to do. And self-care has become an everyday event, not a once a year treat.

Of course I’m always a work in progress, but I can eat the foods I love, go out to eat without stressing, and still feel good in my own skin.

That’s why I became a Nutrition Evangelist and specialize in helping women embrace their vision of better health. I love inspiring them to make small, meaningful changes so they can get off the sidelines and have the energy to build the life of their dreams. All without needing 26 hours in their day, being hungry, feeling deprived, or giving up their glass of wine with dinner :)

Hi, I’m Abby Gardner. Here are the “boring” facts about me: I have a degree in Exercise Physiology from Arizona State University and a Masters degree in Health Administration from Regis University. I am a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) & a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I worked in Sports Mediine & Orthopedics for over 20 years and had a business teaching pre & post natal fitness classes for 5 years after I had my kids.
Now that I’ve covered the boring stuff, here are some more interesting facts about me:
I'm a self taught home cook. My husband & I are a real life When Harry Met Sally, and if you are too young to know what that movie is, well, ask your parents or stream it. 😊 I have two kids, ages 14 & 9 and like many of you, I’m a busy wife & mom who got tired of being constatnly overwhelmed & stresed out about getting a decent dinner on the table. Now that I’ve figured it out, I'm helping families like yours solve their dinner dilemmas. I am the founder & owner of Abby Cooks Wild, a full-service in-home meal prep service based in Golden, Colorado. What I’ve discovered is that it’s not cooking people have an issue with, it’s the PROCESS involved with getting a meal on the table. So, I’m going to share some tips & ideas with you over the course of 2020 to help you help yourself get back to the kitchen and back to the table with little to no stress!
And, when I’m not in the kitchen, I love to read, travel, scrapbook and love the outdoors.
